A Fanuc A16B-2200-0741 — the high-speed Base 2 board for the Fanuc Series 15 / 15B CNC family, in the configuration carrying the additional memory used on 15 and 150 controls. In the Series 15 architecture the base board is the motherboard of the control: it carries the bus that the CPU, axis, memory, graphic and I/O option cards plug into, distributes internal power and routes the inter-card signals. Repair houses list it as the HI-SPEED BASE 2 PCB.
Earlier copy described this as a generic “control board”. It is the base / backplane board of the control, not a processor, axis or I/O card. If your fault is a specific function — an axis, a screen, a comms port — the failing part is usually a card that plugs into this board rather than the board itself.
A16B — Fanuc printed-circuit-board product class (Fanuc’s own numbering, not the GE Fanuc IC-series scheme)2200 — board family block0741 — the high-speed Base 2 board specification, additional-memory configuration for Series 15 / 150 control/03A — hardware revision as stamped on this board; revisions of the same base number are the same board specification
Type: CNC base board / backplane (Base 2, high-speed version)Configuration: high-speed Base 2 with additional memory (15 / 150 control)Host controls: Fanuc Series 15, 15A / 15B CNCFunction: card-bus backplane, internal signal routing and power distribution for the CNC card setBoard revision on this unit: 03AOrigin: Japan (Fanuc nameplate)
Base boards are configuration-specific: the high-speed Base 2 variant supports the faster Series 15 CPU and the larger memory fit, and a standard-speed or different-slot base is not a substitute even where the physical envelope looks the same. Because the base board defines the slot map, a replacement must accept the same card set the machine already has — count the cards and their slot positions before ordering.
All plug-in cards must be transferred to the same slot positions they occupied on the old base. The Series 15 control keeps its parameters and part programs in battery-backed SRAM on the memory card, so back the machine up before disturbing the card stack. Handle as static-sensitive.
Board only. No CPU, axis, memory, graphic or I/O cards, no card cage, rack or CNC cabinet, no power supply unit, no operator panel or CRT/LCD, no battery, no cables, connector kits or terminal boards, no software and no documentation.
Sold as one board.
A16B-2200-0741, A16B22000741 and A16B-2200-0741/03A are the same part number with a revision suffix. Other A16B-2200 numbers are different boards entirely — -0141, -0020 and -0220 are not substitutes for a Base 2 board. Fanuc and GE Fanuc branded examples of this number are the same board.
