An MRC 101KS single-row deep groove ball bearing — 12 mm bore, 28 mm outside diameter, 8 mm width — open on both faces. This is the 6001 envelope, a common small-shaft size in fractional horsepower motors, fans, pumps and light gearboxes. A deep groove design carries radial load with a modest thrust capacity in either direction.
101 – MRC 100-series single-row deep groove ball bearing, 12 mm bore; the same envelope as the ISO 6001
KS – MRC single-row ball bearing type code
No closure suffix, so both faces are open
No clearance suffix, so internal clearance is normal (CN)
An open bearing runs on lubricant supplied by the housing, which suits an oil bath, a grease-packed cavity or a position with a separate lip seal. It also runs cooler and faster than a sealed version because there is no rubbing seal drag. In a dirty position an open bearing depends entirely on the external seal, so the arrangement rather than the bearing sets the service life. Normal CN clearance is the standard choice for a light interference fit on the shaft with a moderate temperature rise.
Bore: 12 mm (0.4724 in)
Outside diameter: 28 mm (1.1024 in)
Width: 8 mm (0.3150 in)
Rows: 1
Rolling elements: balls
Closure: open both faces
Internal clearance: CN (normal)
Snap ring: not fitted
Material: through-hardened bearing steel
Sold as a set of 6 Pcs. Six individual open bearings. No snap rings, shields, seals or spacers are included.
Mounting force goes onto the ring being fitted so that no load passes through the balls. Because the faces are open, the housing supplies and retains the lubricant, and the cavity is packed to roughly one third of its free volume for a grease-lubricated position.
The direct equivalent is an open 6001 from another maker in the 12 x 28 x 8 mm envelope: SKF 6001, FAG 6001, NSK 6001, NTN 6001, Koyo 6001, Timken 6001. Shielded and sealed versions such as 6001-2Z, 6001ZZ and 6001-2RS share the envelope but differ in closure and running friction, so those are related versions rather than equivalents.
