Eight-point 115 V AC discrete output module for GE Series Six PLCs, rated 115/230 V AC, solid-state switching. Output only. Supplied as the bare circuit board WITHOUT a faceplate — the YB prefix means no faceplate and therefore no field terminals; the complete board-plus-faceplate version is IC600BF904. Suits a board-level replacement behind an existing wired faceplate. Takes one I/O slot. Sold as 1 piece.

GE Fanuc IC600YB904A, the 115 V AC discrete output module for the Series Six programmable controller. It is an output-only board with eight points: the PLC’s logic drives eight solid-state AC switches that turn field loads on and off — contactor and relay coils, solenoid valves, indicator lamps, small AC motors through a starter. It reads nothing back; there are no inputs on this card.
IC600 – GE Fanuc Series Six / Series Six Plus familyYB – circuit board only, supplied WITHOUT a faceplate. This is the single most important character in the number. The same module supplied as board plus faceplate carries the BF prefix — IC600BF904. If your rack slot is currently empty of both board and faceplate, a YB number alone will not give you a working, wired-up point.904 – 8-point 115 V AC discrete outputTrailing letter A – hardware revision level, not a change of voltage or point count
Function: discrete output, output onlyPoints: 8Output voltage: 115 V AC nominal; the module is rated for 115/230 V AC serviceSwitching: solid state AC outputRack space: one I/O slot in a Series Six rackSupplied form: circuit board without faceplate (YB prefix)GE internal drawing numbers found on this board: 44A717645-001 and 44A297038-G03Approximate shipping weight: 2 lb
An 8-point card is the coarse-grained end of the Series Six discrete range, which suits it to heavier individual loads — motor starter coils and large solenoids — rather than dense panel-lamp duty. Because the outputs are solid state rather than relay contacts, expect a small leakage current when the point is off. On high-impedance loads such as a neon indicator or the input of another electronic device, that leakage can be enough to keep the load faintly energised; a bleeder resistor across the load is the standard fix. Solid-state AC outputs also cannot switch DC loads at all, so do not substitute this card into a DC output slot.
Inductive loads need snubbing. Contactor and solenoid coils generate a reverse spike on turn-off that shortens the life of the output triac; RC snubbers or MOVs at the load are ordinary practice on this vintage of hardware and worth fitting if the existing panel does not have them.
What is included — read this before you buy:
This is the bare circuit board only, with no faceplate, as the YB catalogue prefix denotes and as pictured. The faceplate on Series Six is not cosmetic: it carries the field wiring terminals and its edge connector mates to the board. Without one you have no place to land field wires.
Also not included: a rack or backplane; a rack power supply; a CPU, memory module or control modules; field wiring; fuses; an extraction/insertion tool; snubbers or bleeder resistors; or documentation. If you need the module complete with faceplate, buy the IC600BF904 version instead, or source the matching faceplate separately.
This board is the right purchase in two situations: you are replacing a failed board behind a faceplate that is already good and already wired, or you are holding a spare board for a repair. It is the wrong purchase if you are populating an empty slot from scratch.
Set the DIP switches on the rack backplane behind the intended slot before fitting the board; they assign the group of bits this module occupies in the Output Status Table. Use the extraction/insertion tool furnished with the CPU. Because the faceplate stays wired in place, the usual field procedure is to unscrew the faceplate thumbscrews, lift the faceplate clear of the old board, swap the board, then reseat the faceplate so its edge connector makes proper contact and retighten top and bottom. Isolate and lock off the 115 V AC field supply first — the faceplate terminals are live at line voltage. Handle as static-sensitive.
IC600YB904 interchanges across its own revision letters, so IC600YB904A through IC600YB904Z are the same catalogue item. IC600BF904 is the same electrical module but a different order item — it ships with the faceplate this one lacks, so treat it as the complete-assembly equivalent rather than a drop-in for the bare board. Other IC600YB numbers are different voltages, point counts or directions and are not equivalents; in particular do not assume an input card in the YB range will substitute. Also searched as IC600YB904, IC600 YB 904 A, YB904, IC600YB904B, 44A717645-001, 44A297038-G03, and GE Series 6 AC output card.
