An IBC B7009-E super-precision angular contact ball bearing, 45 mm bore x 75 mm outside diameter x 16 mm wide — the 7009 / 71909 spindle envelope. It carries radial load plus thrust in one direction, and the high shoulder must face the thrust. This is a machine-tool spindle bearing built to the same order-code system Schaeffler uses, which is what makes it a drop-in for FAG B-series numbers.
B7009 – super-precision single-row angular contact ball bearing, 45 x 75 x 16 mm. The B prefix marks the spindle-bearing range rather than a contact angle.
E – contact angle 25° in this scheme (FAG and IBC both use E for 25° on B-series spindle bearings; RHP uses E for 25° too).
TPA – cage of textile-laminate phenolic resin, outer-ring guided.
P4 – ISO tolerance class 4, equivalent to ABEC 7.
UL – universal, light preload: the faces are ground so that any two bearings of this designation clamp up to a defined light preload in any of the three arrangements.
25° is the middle of the range — more thrust capacity and axial stiffness than 15°, more speed capability and less heat than 40°. It is the general-purpose spindle angle, right for milling and boring heads that see cutting thrust as well as speed.
Universal grinding is what removes bench work from the job: no shimming, no measuring, clamp two up and you have a repeatable light preload. Light preload keeps heat generation and power draw down while still eliminating axial play, which is what a high-speed spindle needs. The textile-laminate phenolic cage is the classic high-speed cage — light, self-lubricating, quiet, and soft enough that a ball skid polishes the pocket rather than galling it. Its limits are sustained heat much above roughly 120 °C and attack by some synthetic lubricants and solvents, so check the lubricant against the cage before fitting.
P4 / ABEC 7 controls bore, outside diameter, width and, critically, radial and axial runout, so the ring can be installed in any rotational orientation without hunting a high spot.
Bore (d): 45 mm
Outside diameter (D): 75 mm
Width (B): 16 mm
Contact angle: 25°
Rows: 1
Cage: textile-laminate phenolic, outer-ring guided (TPA)
Precision: ISO P4 / ABEC 7
Preload: light, universally ground (UL)
Closure: open, no seals or shields
Sold as one bearing. UL is the universal single designation, not a factory-matched pair, so no set preload is supplied with a partner. Because the bearing is universally ground, two of these clamp up into a defined light-preload pair, which is how they are normally used. Where a drawing calls for a supplied matched pair, that is a UL pair ordered as a set or the DUL designation.
Orient the high shoulder towards the thrust load. Press or heat onto the shaft against the inner ring only — never hammer a P4 bearing and never drive force through a phenolic cage. Clamp the rings fully or the designed preload never develops. Grease sparingly, roughly a quarter to a third fill, or run the spindle’s oil-air system. A single angular contact locates the shaft one way only and needs an opposing bearing in the arrangement.
IBC builds to the Schaeffler order-code system, so the closest number is FAG B7009-E-T-P4S-UL and it interchanges directly. Other direct 45 x 75 x 16 mm super-precision 25° equivalents: NSK 7009A5TYNSULP4 (A5 = 25°), SKF 7009 ACD/P4A (AC = 25°), RHP 7009ETSULP4 (RHP E = 25°), Fafnir/Timken 3MM9109WICR SUL (3MM = 25°). Carried as dimensionally-correct cross-references with the difference named: NSK 7009CTYNSULP4, SKF 7009 CD/P4A and Fafnir 2MM9109WI are the same envelope at 15°, and FAG 7009-B-TVP-P4 is the same envelope at 40°. Match the contact angle and preload class your spindle was designed around, not just the dimensions.
