A Timken 14134D-90083 double-row tapered roller bearing assembly with a 1.3125 in bore. It is built from a one-piece 14134D double cone running inside two single 14283 cups.
3 Pcs in one assembly: one 14134D double cone and two 14283 cups.
A Timken number ending in -90xxx is an assembly number: it identifies a complete bearing and the pieces that make it up. The D suffix on the cone number marks a one-piece double cone — a single inner ring carrying two opposed raceways, with rollers and a stamped steel cage on each row — which is why the assembly takes two separate cups rather than one. This is the inverse of a double cup, where one outer ring takes two cones.
Two rows facing opposite ways locate the shaft axially in both directions and take thrust either way. Putting both inner raceways on one ring means a single press fit onto the shaft and fixes the spread between the rows at manufacture, so the row geometry does not depend on shaft machining. The two cups are adjusted in the housing to set the bearing, the usual arrangement where the housing offers the adjustment and the shaft does not.
High-alloy through-hardened bearing steel throughout, with a stamped steel cage on each row keeping the rollers from touching one another and so holding down friction, vibration and noise. The assembly is dimensionally stable from −54 °C to 120 °C.
Arrangement: one-piece double cone with two single cups seated from opposite ends. Setting: the cups are moved axially against the fixed spread of the double cone.
The assembly interchanges as a unit by the -90083 number, and the pieces interchange individually: a cone marked 14134D and cups marked 14283 from another tapered roller bearing maker are the same specification. A plain 14134 single cone is a one-raceway part used with one cup.
