What this part is:
This is a Siemens SIMODRIVE feed module from the 6SC61-series drive family — the axis inverter that powers a machine-tool feed axis. It draws 600 VDC from the drive group’s common DC link and inverts it to a three-phase variable-voltage, variable-frequency output for the servo motor. Two things it is not: it is not the supply / infeed module that rectifies the mains and charges that 600 V link, and it is not a spindle drive. Nothing moves without a supply module upstream, and the 60/120 A rating on the label is an output figure, not an input one.

Decoding the order code:

6SC — Siemens SIMODRIVE converter prefix (the 6SC61 generation, the analog predecessor of the 6SN1 SIMODRIVE 611 range).
6116 — the feed-module frame and rating within the family. 6SC6110, 6SC6111, 6SC6112 and 6SC6114 are smaller frames in the same range; the number is the field to match, because the modules share a rail but not a rating.
-0AA00 — the build variant. Later suffixes exist within the same frame, so record the full number from the label.

Published specifications:

Function: SIMODRIVE feed module (feed-axis inverter)
Input: 600 VDC from the drive-group DC link
Output: three phase, 0–490 V, 0–300 Hz
Output current rating: 60 A continuous / 120 A peak
Weight: approximately 15 kg
Manufacturer status: discontinued 28 July 2006, no factory successor in this frame

What these specs mean in practice:
60 A continuous with 120 A peak is a two-to-one overload headroom, and that ratio is the whole point of a feed drive: a milling or turning axis spends most of its life well under rated current and then demands double for the acceleration and reversal at the end of every cut. Size against the motor’s peak demand, not its steady-state draw, or the drive will trip on rapids while looking perfectly healthy in a steady feed.

The 0–300 Hz output range is what lets the module take a servo motor from a creep feed to full rapid without gear changes, and the 0–490 V output ceiling follows directly from the 600 V DC link — which is why the module has to sit on a 600 V group and cannot be pressed into service on a lower-voltage link. At 15 kg this is a two-hand lift on a vertical rail; plan the extraction before you unbolt it.

Quantity and configuration:
One feed module ships. No supply / infeed module, no servo motor, no DC-link busbars or jumper bars, no closed-loop control card if your machine used a separate one, no mating connector or terminal kit, no cabling and no manual are included. SIMODRIVE drive groups are built module by module on a common rail, so expect to reuse the busbars, harness and interlock wiring already in the cabinet.

Installation and setup notes:
A 600 V DC link holds a lethal charge long after the mains is off — isolate, lock out, wait for the bus to discharge and confirm zero volts at the busbars with a meter before you touch a terminal. Support the module’s weight while you release the last fixings; dropping 15 kg onto a busbar assembly is an expensive way to end a repair. Bond the module chassis to the cabinet ground plane, keep the motor leads screened with the screen landed both ends, and route the tachometer or resolver feedback loom well away from the motor power run, because feedback inputs on this generation are low level and PWM noise on them presents as an axis that hunts rather than as a clean fault. Verify the drive-enable and pulse-enable interlocks and the group’s contactor sequence before first energisation, and confirm all terminal covers are refitted.

Interchange guidance:
Searched as 6SC6116-0AA00, 6SC61160AA00, 6SC6116 0AA00, 6SC 6116-0AA00 and SIMODRIVE feed module 60/120 A. Note that distributors and repair houses list this module variously as a SIMODRIVE 610, SIMODRIVE 611 and plain SIMODRIVE part — all three phrasings are in circulation for the 6SC61 family, so search all of them. Smaller frames in the same feed-module range (6SC6110, 6SC6111, 6SC6112, 6SC6114) share the rail architecture and the 600 V link concept but carry lower current ratings, so they are cross-references rather than substitutes. The 6SC61 generation was replaced by SIMODRIVE 611 (6SN1) and later by SINAMICS S120; both are cabinet-level rebuilds, not module swaps. With the part discontinued since 2006 and no factory replacement, tested surplus and repair-exchange are the practical sources.
