Product Description

What this part is

A Fanuc A16B-2200-0220 — the axis control (digital servo) daughter board for the Fanuc Series 0-C CNC. It plugs into the 0-C master board and provides three or four channels of 16-bit digital servo control, generating the position and velocity commands that drive Fanuc digital servo amplifier units. It is not a CPU board, not a power supply and not an I/O board.

Correcting the source data

Earlier copy described this only as a generic “control board”. It is specifically the 3/4-axis servo control card of the 0-C control — the board that decides how many axes the machine can run. That matters when you are matching a spare: an axis card is not interchangeable with a master, memory or I/O board from the same A16B-2200 block.

Decoding the order code

A16B — Fanuc printed-circuit-board product class (Fanuc’s own scheme, unrelated to the GE Fanuc IC-series numbering)2200 — Series 0-C board family0220 — the 3/4-axis 16-bit digital servo axis card within that family/05A — hardware revision stamped on the board; revisions within the same base number are functionally the same card

Published specifications

Type: axis control / digital servo daughter boardAxes: 3 axes as normally supplied, expandable to 4 — the fourth channel requires the axis LSI to be populatedServo word length: 16-bitHost control: Fanuc Series 0-C (0C) — 0-MC, 0-TC and related modelsDrives commanded: Fanuc S-series digital servo amplifiers and the earlier 185 V AC class digital servo unitsConstruction: through-hole, non-surface-mount boardMounting: plug-in card seated on the 0-C master boardOrigin: Japan (Fanuc nameplate)

What these specs mean in practice

The axis count is the thing to check before you buy. Cards supplied in three-axis form can be taken to four axes by transferring the axis LSI, but a card that ships as three axes will only run three until that is done. The board also fixes the drive generation you can use: it speaks to digital S-series amplifiers, so it will not command analogue velocity-command drives, and it is not the axis card for the later Series 0i / i-series FSSB architecture.

Installation and setup notes

Axis parameters live in the CNC, not on this card, so a swapped board needs the servo parameters and axis configuration confirmed against the machine’s backup. Handle as static-sensitive; the connectors are edge-seated on the master board and should be reseated squarely.

What is not included

Board only. No 0-C master board, no CNC rack or card cage, no power supply, no servo amplifier, no memory or ROM board, no axis LSI beyond what is fitted, no cables, connector kits, terminal boards, battery or documentation.

Quantity and configuration

Sold as one board.

Interchange guidance

A16B-2200-0220 and A16B22000220 are the same part; the /05A trailing group is a revision, not a different model. Neighbouring numbers are genuinely different boards — A16B-2200-0020, -0520 and -0741 are not substitutes, and A16B-3200-0220 belongs to a later board family despite the similar tail. Fanuc and GE Fanuc branded examples of this number are the same card.
