A double-row spherical roller bearing on the ISO 22211 envelope — 55 mm bore, 100 mm outside diameter, 25 mm width — with a 1:12 tapered bore, a two-piece steel cage, the W33 lubrication feature and C3 internal clearance. Two rows of barrel-shaped rollers run against a single spherical outer raceway, so the whole inner assembly swivels inside the outer ring. That is the self-aligning action: it absorbs housings bored out of line and shafts that bend under load without loading the roller ends.

K – tapered bore, 1:12 taper.
VJ – Torrington cage code: a two-piece steel cage of the finger type. Steel, not brass. The sister code CJ is the two-piece steel window-type cage; the brass and bronze cages carry BR, YM, YMB or YMD.
W33 – lubrication groove machined around the outer ring with three radial oil holes through it.
C3 – radial internal clearance greater than normal.
C3 is the specification most likely to decide whether this bearing is right for your machine, and it fails in both directions if mismatched. Clearance above normal is chosen when the mounting itself will eat some of it: a heavy interference fit on the shaft expands the inner ring and closes clearance, and a hot inner ring running against a cooler housing does the same. Fit a normal-clearance bearing into that duty and it runs preloaded, hot and short-lived. Fit C3 where the original called for normal clearance in a lightly loaded, cool, slow application and you get a bearing that is looser than intended, which shows up as noise, roller skidding and reduced fatigue life. Match the clearance class the machine was designed around.
The steel finger cage is the workhorse choice: cheaper and tougher against shock than machined brass, and unlike a polyamide cage it is not temperature-limited. Brass-caged variants of the same bearing carry a different load rating, so a cage code is not a cosmetic difference.
W33 is what makes a housing grease port useful. Fresh grease enters the groove, passes through the three holes and is delivered between the two roller rows, pushing old grease outward instead of channelling around the outer ring.

Sold as 1 Pc — one complete double-row spherical roller bearing: outer ring, inner ring, two rows of rollers and their steel cages, assembled. Open on both faces, no seals and no shields. The H311 adapter sleeve, lock nut and lock washer are separate items and are not included.
To mount on a plain 50 mm shaft, use an H311 adapter sleeve with its lock nut and lock washer; the sleeve’s tapered outside diameter matches the 55 mm 1:12 bore. Alternatively the bearing sits directly on a shaft seat cut to a 1:12 taper.
Because the bore is tapered, the drive-up distance sets the final running clearance. Measure residual radial clearance with a feeler gauge across the unloaded roller row before and after drive-up, and work to the C3 residual value for your shaft size — do not simply tighten the nut until it stops. Respect the abutment diameters above so shoulders and seals clear the ring corners, and never drive the assembly through the rollers.
Torrington was absorbed into Timken, and Timken’s published supersession replaces the CJ and VCSJ cage styles with EJ; the current part on this envelope is 22211EJW33 (tapered bore and C3: 22211KEJW33C3). Genuine tapered-bore, open, W33, C3 interchanges include SKF 22211 EK/C3 with /W33, FAG 22211-E1-K-C3, NSK 22211EAKE4C3, NTN 22211EAKD1C3, Koyo 22211RHKW33C3, Consolidated 22211 K C3 W33, Link-Belt 22211LBKW33C3 and Rollway 22211KW33C3.
Two things that look like equivalents and are not. The straight-bore 22211VJW33C3 shares the 55 × 100 × 25 envelope but is a related size with a cylindrical bore — it cannot be mounted on an adapter sleeve. And a brass-caged 22211KBRW33C3 is the same envelope with a different cage and a different load rating; treat it as a related build, not a drop-in equal.
