| Compatible With Replaces | Related size, NOT an interchange: the straight-bore 22210, 22210LB and 22210 E share the same 50 x 90 x 23 mm envelope but mount directly on a 50 mm shaft. A tapered-bore bearing will not fit a plain shaft and a straight-bore bearing will not fit a sleeve. |
| Additional Attributes | 1:12 tapered bore, non-separable assembly, self-aligning. Bare bearing only — no housing, pillow block or sleeve supplied. Running clearance is set at assembly by the distance drawn up the taper and must be measured during fitting. H-series sleeve dimensions follow ISO 2982-1 and DIN 5415, so H310 sleeves are interchangeable across brands. |

A Link-Belt double-row spherical roller bearing, 50 mm bore x 90 mm outside diameter x 23 mm wide, in the ISO 222 dimension series, with a tapered bore. Two rows of barrel rollers run on one spherical outer raceway, so the inner ring and roller set swivel bodily inside the outer ring. That self-aligning action soaks up shaft deflection and housing misalignment that would destroy a cylindrical roller or deep groove ball bearing in the same envelope, while carrying very heavy radial load and thrust in both directions. Link-Belt built its reputation on conveyor and bulk-handling duty, and this is a bearing sized and specified for exactly that kind of dirty, shock-loaded, plain-shaft service.
222 — double-row spherical roller bearing, dimension series 22.
10 — bore code for a 50 mm bore.
LB — Link-Belt’s own product identifier for its spherical roller bearing line. It is a brand marker, not a technical feature, so there is nothing to match on it when cross-shopping.
K — tapered bore, taper ratio 1:12. The character that decides how this bearing mounts.
W33 — annular lubrication groove around the outer ring plus three lubrication holes through it.
C3 — radial internal clearance greater than Normal.
Worth knowing: on Link-Belt spherical roller bearings the W33 lubrication feature and C3 clearance are both standard, so this designation is spelling out the defaults rather than describing options. A plain 22210LBK is the same bearing.
What these specs mean in practice — the tapered bore:
A 1:12 tapered bore will not go onto a plain shaft. It has to be drawn up a matching taper, which means an accessory that is not included with this bearing:
An H310 adapter sleeve lets the bearing clamp anywhere along a plain 45 mm shaft. The shaft is 45 mm, not 50 mm — the sleeve wall takes up the difference, and that catches people out. H-series adapter sleeves are normally supplied complete with their KM10 locknut and MB10 lockwasher.
An AHX310 withdrawal sleeve is the alternative where the bearing sits on a stepped 50 mm seat. Withdrawal sleeves come without a nut, ordered separately.
The payoff for that extra part is control. On plain shafting there is no machined bearing seat to set the fit for you, so the taper does it instead: how far you draw the bearing up the sleeve determines how much the inner ring expands and therefore what running clearance you end up with. That is precisely why bulk-handling and conveyor builders specify tapered-bore bearings on lengths of plain round bar. Measure the clearance reduction as you tighten — over-driving a tapered-bore bearing preloads it before it ever turns and is the classic way to kill one on commissioning, while under-driving lets the inner ring creep on the sleeve.
C3 clearance is the right default here. Conveyor and screen duty means tight shaft interference and warm running, both of which consume clearance, so starting looser than Normal leaves you with working clearance once the machine is hot. The outer-ring groove and three holes let grease be pumped straight into the roller rows through the housing, which on dirty bulk-handling duty is the single most important thing keeping the bearing alive — provided the housing has a lubrication port aligned to the groove.
Link-Belt publishes the following for the 22210LB / 22210LBK:
Basic dynamic load rating C: 97 900 N (22 000 lbf)
Basic static load rating C0: 113 000 N (25 500 lbf)
Speed limit: 5 000 rpm on grease, 5 500 rpm on oil
Load factor e: 0.26
Adapter sleeve: H310, for a 45 mm shaft
Withdrawal sleeve: AHX310, for a 50 mm seat
Sold as 1 Pc. One complete bearing: inner ring with both roller rows and cage, plus the outer ring. Spherical roller bearings are a non-separable assembly, so there is no cup or cone to buy alongside. This is the bare bearing only — no adapter sleeve, withdrawal sleeve, locknut, lockwasher, housing or pillow block is included, and the tapered bore means a sleeve is required to mount it.
Slide the sleeve onto the shaft, fit the bearing onto the sleeve taper, then draw it up with the locknut while measuring the reduction in radial internal clearance with a feeler gauge across the unloaded roller row. Work to the published clearance-reduction figure, not to a torque setting — the taper turns a small axial movement into a large radial expansion, so torque tells you very little. Bend one tab of the lockwasher into the nut slot once you are satisfied. Seat the outer ring squarely in its housing and let it find its own alignment before the assembly is finally pulled down; clamping the outer ring off-neutral throws away the self-aligning capability. Line the housing grease port up with the outer-ring groove and purge before the first run. A plain shaft seat at h9 is generally adequate under an adapter sleeve.
Dimensionally equivalent tapered-bore 22210 bearings include SKF 22210 EK, FAG 22210-E1-K, NSK 22210EAKE4, NTN 22210EAKW33, NTN-SNR 22210EAKW33, Timken 22210KEJW33, RHP 22210EKJW33 and Nachi 22210EXK — specify C3 clearance to match. All mount on the same H310 adapter sleeve, because H-series sleeve dimensions follow ISO 2982-1 and DIN 5415 rather than any one maker’s standard. The 22210MB designation also carried on this listing is the same envelope with a machined brass, inner-ring-guided cage instead of a pressed cage: dimensionally interchangeable and a useful search term, but a different cage specification rather than an identical part. The straight-bore 22210 is a related size, not an interchange — it will not mount on a sleeve, and this bearing will not mount on a plain 50 mm shaft. Link-Belt bearings passed to Rexnord and are now part of Regal Rexnord, so current-catalogue equivalents will be found under that name.
