A Link-Belt UG-216 ball bearing insert — the rotating cartridge only, for a 1 inch shaft. It is a single row ball bearing with a wide inner ring and a spherical, crowned outer race that swivels in a matching housing seat, so the mounted unit it goes into is alignable. Shaft locking is by an eccentric collar rather than setscrews.
This is the insert alone. There is no housing, no cap and no bolts. Use it to rebuild an existing Link-Belt 200-series mounted unit whose housing is still sound — a P3-U200 or PL3-U200 pillow block, an FX3 two-bolt or F3 four-bolt flange, or a take-up block. If you need the complete assembled unit, that is a different order code.
U = Link-Belt wide inner ring ball insert. G = eccentric locking collar version (the plain U insert locks with setscrews). 216 = shaft size in sixteenths of an inch, so 16/16 = 1 inch bore. HL is a build suffix on the carton and is retained here as a search term rather than published as a specification.
The brand field on this listing read SealMaster. UG-216 is Link-Belt’s own insert numbering — SealMaster inserts are numbered in the 2-xxx series — so the brand has been corrected to Link-Belt. Getting this right matters because insert outside diameter and width vary between makers even at the same bore, and the housing seat is what decides fit.
Bearing type: single row ball bearing insert, wide inner ringBore / shaft size: 1 in (25.4 mm)Outer race: spherical, self-aligning in the housing seatLocking method: eccentric locking collarSeries: Link-Belt 200 series, U/UG insertRolling elements: ball · number of rows: 1Design units: inch
An eccentric collar grips by cam action and leaves the shaft unmarked, so ordinary cold-drawn shafting is fine and the insert can be repositioned without leaving setscrew dents behind. The trade-off is direction sensitivity: the collar is tightened with the direction of rotation and can walk loose on a drive that reverses hard under load. On a reversing shaft the setscrew U insert is the safer choice.
Because the outer race is spherical, this insert must go into a housing with a matching crowned seat. It will not sit correctly in a cylindrical-bore housing, and it is not a substitute for a plain deep groove ball bearing of similar nominal size.
Sold as 1 pc — one insert with its eccentric collar.
Clean the housing seat so the insert can still swivel after fitting. Slide the insert and collar onto the shaft, set the housing position, then turn the collar in the direction of shaft rotation until it cams tight and tighten its setscrew onto the collar — not onto the shaft. Rotate by hand to check for drag, then grease through the housing fitting so the path is purged.
Role-equivalent collar-locking inserts include SealMaster ER-series inserts, Dodge eccentric-collar inserts and generic UEL-series inserts at 1 inch bore. Fit is set by insert outside diameter and overall width, not by bore, so measure your housing seat before buying across brands. Related, not interchangeable: Link-Belt U-216 is the same envelope with setscrew locking, and a UB/UBG insert is a different insert family.
