What this part is

An RHP Self-Lube® wide-inner-ring ball bearing insert for a 2 in shaft, built with a parallel outside diameter rather than the spherical seating of the standard 1000-series insert, and supplied with a snap ring fitted in a groove on the outer ring OD. Bore 2 in, outside diameter 100 mm, overall width 55.6 mm. Locking is by setscrews in the extended inner ring.

Decoding the designation

1155 — RHP Self-Lube bearing group. The 1100 and 1300 blocks are the parallel-outer-ring inserts, offered with relubrication and circlip facilities for assembly into a purchaser’s own housing; the 1000 and 1200 blocks are the spherical-outer inserts for RHP cast-iron and thermoplastic housings.
-2 — nominal bore in inches. On this scheme the trailing group is the shaft size, quoted in inches on inch parts and millimetres on metric parts.

What these specs mean in practice

The parallel outer ring is the difference that governs where this insert can go. A spherical-outer insert relies on a matching spherical seating in the housing to take up initial misalignment on assembly. A parallel outer ring sits in a plain cylindrical bore, so it drops into a machined pocket or a purchaser-built housing and carries no self-aligning capability. The snap ring in the OD groove locates the insert axially in that bore.

The setscrew lock is two knurled cup-point screws set into the extended inner ring and tightened down onto the shaft. It is the simplest RHP locking arrangement; the eccentric-collar version of the same insert is the 1155-2DEC.

Fitting notes

The insert goes into a cylindrical housing bore or machined pocket sized to the 100 mm outside diameter, and the snap ring seats against the bore shoulder or retaining face to fix the axial position. The setscrews are drawn down onto the shaft once the insert is at its running position. The outer-ring grease groove aligns with the relubrication port in the housing.

Interchange guidance

1155-2C is the same insert without the grub-screw lock; 1155-2 is the plain parallel-outer version without the circlip; 1155-2DEC carries eccentric-collar locking. Those are related sizes on the same envelope rather than direct substitutions, because the locking method and the circlip both change. The equivalent under the ER/wide-inner-ring insert scheme at this bore and outside diameter is ER211-32.
