What these specs mean in practice

Two rows of cylindrical rollers give very high radial capacity and high radial stiffness in a short axial length. The groove and holes let oil or grease be fed to the rollers through the housing rather than only from the bearing ends, which matters on a spindle running continuously at speed where the lubricant has to be replenished and heat carried away. A machined brass cage is stronger and more temperature-tolerant than a pressed steel or polyamide cage and adds rotating mass; it is the usual choice where roller guidance has to stay accurate under load.

Fitting notes

The 1:12 tapered bore of an NN cylindrical bearing seats directly on a tapered spindle journal, with no adapter sleeve in the design. Radial internal clearance is set by the drive-up distance on the taper, normally against a lock nut, and the housing must present the lubrication groove to a matching supply port for the AS feature to do anything.

Interchange guidance

The straight-bore counterpart is the NN3011 AS M SP. Variants differing in cage material, lubrication provision or precision class — and NNU3011 bearings, which use a different internal guidance design — are related sizes rather than interchanges.
