A factory-matched pair of SNR 7010 C V DU J84 super-precision angular contact ball bearings. Single row each, 50 mm bore, 80 mm outside diameter, 16 mm width, open on both faces, with a machined phenolic cage.

Decoding the designation

7010 is the ISO 70 dimension series with bore code 10, giving a 50 mm bore. C is a 15° contact angle. DU marks a duplex set ground together at the factory. J84 is the medium preload class in the NTN-SNR super-precision preload scheme, one step above the J74 light class. This preload family is separate from the SNR J20 to J50 radial clearance codes used on standard bearings.

What these specs mean in practice

Basic dynamic radial rating is 29 kN and static radial rating 16.1 kN. A 15° contact angle favours speed and radial stiffness over thrust capacity. Medium preload gives higher axial and radial stiffness than a light-preload set and holds spindle position more firmly under changing load, at the cost of extra friction and running temperature. Limiting speed for the set is 18,000 rpm.

Two pieces, one matched duplex set, 32 mm total width. Mounted back-to-back or face-to-face the set takes thrust in both directions and realises the J84 medium preload; in tandem it takes thrust in one direction at doubled capacity.

Fitting notes

The marked ring faces go together in the factory-ground orientation, clamped square against a rigid shoulder so the preload lands as designed. Clamping load passes through the rings. Operating range for the phenolic cage is –40 °C to 120 °C.
