The record carried a Fafnir cross-reference of 2MMV9107WI CR DUM alongside the SUM designation on the primary number. SU and DU are mutually exclusive — a bearing is ground either as a universal single or as a duplex half, never both. The SUM reading is kept because it is on the manufacturer’s own number; the DUM cross-reference is retained as a search term only, not as a specification. The claimed manufacture in the United Kingdom has also been removed: RHP is a British marque but no origin marking is documented for the item in hand. Shipping promises and downtime-scare copy have gone.
P2 is a step above the P4 that most spindle bearings are supplied to, and it is not a marketing grade — it tightens bore and outside-diameter tolerance and, more importantly, the radial and axial runout of the assembled bearing. On a grinding spindle or a metrology-grade rotary axis, runout at the bearing is runout at the workpiece, and P2 is what you specify when the part tolerance leaves no room for anything else. It is also worth saying plainly: a P2 bearing in a housing bored to ordinary tolerances gives you a P4 spindle. The grade only pays off if the shaft and housing are matched to it.
The 15° contact angle favours speed and radial stiffness over axial capacity. Medium preload gives more axial rigidity and positional hold than a light set, and runs warmer for it. Because this is a universal single, you can build it into a DF, DB or DT arrangement with matching bearings — but the preload class must be consistent across the whole stack.
No manufacturer-published basic dynamic or static load rating could be verified for this designation, so none is stated rather than borrowed from a differently classed 7007. Boundary dimensions 35 x 62 x 14 mm are the ISO 70-series values and are confirmed.
Same-envelope 15° equivalents at high precision include NSK 7007CTYNSUMP4 (note P4, a grade below this bearing), SKF 7007 CDGB/P4A and Fafnir/Timken 2MM9107WI. If your application specifically calls for class 2, do not accept a P4 substitute without checking the runout requirement first. RHP numbers now route through NSK.
