What this part is

A matched pair of FAG super-precision angular contact ball bearings, each 17 mm bore by 35 mm outside diameter by 10 mm wide. Bearings in the Schaeffler B7 block are spindle bearings, ground to super-precision running accuracy with the cage and internal geometry chosen for speed. This pair is supplied universally ground with light preload built into the ring faces.

What these specs mean in practice

A 15° contact angle favours speed over thrust. Fitting notes

Universal grinding means the pair can be arranged back-to-back, face-to-face or in tandem and the light preload comes out as designed once the rings are clamped. Back-to-back gives the stiffest arrangement against moment load, face-to-face is more tolerant of misalignment, and tandem shares thrust in one direction only. Preload is developed by clamping the inner and outer rings solid against their seats.
