Fafnir 2MMVC9114HXCR-TUL hybrid ceramic super-precision angular contact ball bearing, 70 mm bore, 110 mm outside diameter, 20 mm width. Single row, open on both faces, machined phenolic outer-land-riding cage, silicon nitride balls on through-hardened steel raceways. ISO base number 7014, precision class P2 / ABEC 9.
2MM sets a 15° contact angle in the Fafnir WI super-precision scheme. The V and the HX identify the hybrid-ceramic execution, marked HY-CERAMIC on the carton and equivalent to HC in the SKF scheme. The leading 9 of 9114 places the bearing in the ISO 70 light dimension series, so the ISO base number is 7014. CR is the phenolic outer-land-riding cage, U marks universally ground faces and L light preload. The carton also carries the equivalent 7014 C HC P2 TUL and the special-features code FS735.
Silicon nitride balls weigh about 40 per cent of steel balls of the same diameter, so centrifugal loading and cage forces fall sharply at speed. That is what buys the 20,000 rpm limiting speed on a 70 mm bore. Ceramic balls are also harder and stiffer than steel and are electrically insulating, which suppresses the electrical pitting seen on motorised spindles. Basic dynamic capacity is 39 kN (8,770 lbf) and static capacity 40 kN (9,000 lbf). Light preload keeps the bearing cool and fast; ABEC 9 running accuracy is the tightest standard class and holds spindle runout to the low single-digit micron range.
Universally ground faces, so the bearing stacks with others of the same designation back-to-back, face-to-face or in tandem, with the light preload developed by the ground offsets.
Straight bore on an interference fit to the spindle journal, outer ring clamped square in the housing bore. Marked faces are oriented together per the chosen stack. Hybrid ceramic bearings at ABEC 9 run on filtered oil, oil mist or a light high-speed grease, and the operating range is –30 to 120 °C.
Same-specification hybrid-ceramic 15° equivalents include the SKF 7014 CD/HCP4A, FAG HCB7014-C-T-P4S and GMN HYS6014CTA. An all-steel 2MM9114WI of the same envelope is a related size rather than a substitution: it shares the geometry but not the speed rating or the electrical insulation. A P4S-class version of this bearing is one precision class looser than the P2 marked here.
