A Timken single cone from the imperial M919000 tapered roller series. The cone is the inner assembly: a case-hardened alloy steel inner ring carrying its tapered rollers in a stamped steel cage. Bore is 3.5433 in and cone width is 1.1417 in.
M919049 is the cone identity within the M919000 series. The M prefix marks Timken’s metric-derived inch block, which is why the bore and width convert to round metric figures of 90 mm and 29 mm. No trailing -3, *3 or #3 appears, so the part is standard Class 2 tolerance rather than precision Class 3.
A 90 mm bore on a 29 mm cone width is a compact medium-duty section suited to gearbox shafts, pump and fan drives and vehicle driveline positions where radial and thrust load arrive together. Case carburizing gives a hard raceway over a tough core, which resists shock loading better than through-hardened steel. The effective centre location of 0.13 in outboard of the cone backface is the figure used when calculating bearing spread on a two-row mounting.
1 Pc. Cone only. The matching cup is the Timken M919010.
The cone seats on the shaft with an interference fit and is driven home against the shaft shoulder on the cone backface, never through the roller cage. The 0.14 in backface to-clear radius sets the maximum shaft shoulder fillet, and the 4.13 in frontface backing diameter is the largest diameter a puller or backing shoulder can bear against. Setting is taken after the cup is seated in its housing bore, to the specified bench end play or preload.
M919049 is a standard industry cone number made by several bearing manufacturers at the same size. A cone of the same number with a -3 suffix is the precision Class 3 version, built to a tighter tolerance grade.
