SKF K-48190 tapered roller bearing cone — the inner ring complete with its tapered roller and cage assembly, in the inch 48100 series. Bore 4.2500 in (107.950 mm), straight bore, carburized bearing steel races with a pressed steel cage.
48190 is the industry cone number, carried identically by Timken, NTN and Koyo, and it fixes the bore, roller path and rib geometry. The K- element is an SKF carton prefix and is published here as a searchable designation rather than as a specification.
Straight cylindrical bore, tapered raceway. A tapered roller cone carries radial load and thrust in one direction at the same time, the split between them being set by the raceway angle. The 48100 series is a heavy inch series used on large gearbox shafts, trunnions and slow-speed pinion supports.
Cone only, one piece. The matching cup is the 48120.
The cone seats as a press fit on the shaft and the cup as an interference or line fit in the housing. Endplay or preload is set by axial adjustment once both halves are seated. Oil bath, circulating oil and grease lubrication all apply. At this bore size the cone is normally heated or pressed on with a sleeve bearing on the large rib face.
Timken 48190, NTN 48190 and Koyo 48190 are the same cone and interchange directly. The 48120 cup is the published counterpart, and cone and cup raceway angles are matched between the two halves of a given set number.
New old stock with surface staining on the ring faces, shown in the listing photographs. Raceway and roller path are unused.
