HM921348 is an ANSI/ABMA inch tapered roller number. The HM prefix denotes a heavy inch section: a steeper raceway angle and a taller roller than the equivalent L or LM part in the same bore. The …348 ending marks the cone half; the cup half of the set is HM921310.
The steeper HM raceway angle trades a small loss of pure radial capacity for markedly higher single-direction thrust capacity, which is why the section appears in wheel ends and pinion positions rather than in plain radial shafting.
