Product Description

What this part is

A Fanuc A06B-6096-H102 Servo Amplifier Module — the single-axis member of the Alpha series SVM family, model designation SVM1-20. It is a servo amplifier, not a general-purpose variable frequency drive: it closes a full torque and position loop against a Fanuc serial pulse coder on the motor and takes its command over the Fanuc Serial Servo Bus (FSSB) from the CNC axis card. It cannot be run standalone as a V/Hz inverter.

Decoding the order code

A06B — Fanuc servo amplifier and motor product class6096 — Alpha series SVM (Servo Amplifier Module) familyH102 — specification suffix: one axis, 20 A class output stage, i.e. SVM1-20SVM1 — single-axis module; SVM2 and SVM3 are the two- and three-axis versions in the same family

Published specifications

Type: Alpha series Servo Amplifier Module, single axis (SVM1-20)Input: DC link, 283–325 V DC, taken from a Fanuc Power Supply Module (PSM) — not from the mainsOutput: three-phase PWM to one Fanuc Alpha AC servo motor, max 230 V AC classOutput current class: 20 AFeedback: Fanuc serial pulse coder (alpha A/B/C encoder), via the JF connectorControl interface: FSSB / Fanuc serial servo command from the CNCCooling: forced-air, internal fanMounting: vertical, cabinet-mounted alongside the PSM and adjacent SVM/SPM modules on a shared DC bus barOrigin: Japan (Fanuc nameplate)

What these specs mean in practice

The 283–325 V DC figure is the shared DC link, not a mains input. This module has no rectifier and no mains terminals of its own: it must sit on a Fanuc Alpha PSM bus. If your machine has no PSM, or the existing bus is a different generation, this amplifier will not power up. The 20 A class sizes it for the smaller Alpha motors — typically Alpha 1/3000 through Alpha 2/2000 duty. Fitting a 20 A module where a 40 A or 80 A module was is an undersize and will alarm on overcurrent under acceleration.

Firmware: read this before you buy:
Alpha SVM amplifiers carry no user firmware of their own; the servo software lives in the CNC. Axis behaviour is governed by the CNC servo parameters, so a swapped amplifier needs the amplifier current-limit and motor ID parameters checked against the module actually installed.

What is not included

Amplifier module only. No Power Supply Module, no spindle module, no DC bus bars or link plates, no JF/JV/JX signal cables, no motor power cable, no connector kit, no fuses, no dynamic-brake unit, no regenerative discharge resistor, no manuals or software.

Quantity and configuration

Sold as one single-axis amplifier module. A multi-axis machine needs one axis of amplification per servo motor — either several SVM1 modules or an SVM2/SVM3.

Interchange guidance

A06B-6096-H102 is the same module whether the code is written spaced, hyphenated or unspaced. The other H-suffixes in the 6096 family are different current classes and axis counts and are not drop-in equivalents — H104 is the 40 A single-axis SVM1-40L, H10x/H2xx cover other ratings and the multi-axis units. Do not substitute across the Beta (A06B-6093/6117) or Alpha i (A06B-6114/6117) generations: connector sets, DC bus voltage and the servo bus protocol all differ.
