Compact AC servo motor for industrial robot manipulator axis drive, with an integral brushless resolver on the non-drive end, a 9-pin D-sub feedback lead and a separate motor/brake power lead. Bare motor only – no gear unit, harness or arm castings. Specify by resolver type and flange, because the controller’s measurement system must match the feedback device fitted.

A square-flange AC servo motor built by Tamagawa Seiki of Japan and supplied into robot manipulators under an ABB spare-part number. The nameplate carries both identities, which is why both appear in the title.
TAMAGAWA SEIKI CO., LTD. – AC SERVO MOTOR, CE, EN 60034-1ABB Type No. 3HAC 021457-001/00Serial No. 43-B00501Tamagawa motor type TS4607N8320E403 (middle digits are only partially legible on the label; treat this reading as indicative and verify against your own unit before ordering by that number)DATE ‘06.04 (manufactured April 2006)Made in Japan
Mounted on the rear housing is a Tamagawa Smartsyn BRX brushless resolver, TS2620N941E172, serial No. J38671, Made in Japan. Its lead terminates in a 9-pin D-sub connector. Smartsyn BRX resolvers are brushless – there are no slip rings or brushes to wear – which is the reason this class of feedback survives in arc-welding and foundry robots where an optical encoder would not. The resolver is the fit-critical item. A robot controller’s measurement board is configured for a specific resolver type and pole count; a motor with the wrong resolver will either fail commutation or read the wrong axis position, so match TS2620N941E172 rather than assuming any TS26xx unit will serve.
ABB’s robotics spare-part numbering is 3HAC nnnnnn-nnn/rr, where the trailing /00 is the revision index of that spare number, not a configuration option. Robot spare-parts sources list 3HAC021457-001 as an axis 4/5/6 (wrist) motor for small ABB manipulators of the IRB 1600 generation, and show it being sold as part of a gear-motor unit alongside gear 3HAC021799-001 under assembly number 3HAC028018-001. That application mapping is from third-party robot-parts specialists, not from ABB literature, so treat it as provisional and confirm against your own robot’s spare-parts list before committing.
Photo-verified: this is the bare motor with its integral resolver and two short pigtail leads only. There is no gear unit, no arm casting, no motor-to-controller cable set, no mounting bolts and no documentation. The rear resolver cover is not fitted, so the resolver windings are exposed in the photographs – electrically harmless in storage, but the cover must be sourced and fitted before the motor is put into service, and the exposed windings should not be handled.
3HAC021456-001/00 is the neighbouring axis motor in the same family and carries a different Tamagawa type (TS4613N8320E402). Same visual envelope, different motor and different resolver – not interchangeable. Likewise 3HAC025724-001/03 and 3HAC017484-10/00 are separate axis positions.
Replacing a robot axis motor invalidates the stored revolution-counter data for that axis. After mechanical fitting, the axis must be moved to its synchronisation position and the revolution counter updated from the teach pendant before the robot will run a program. Budget for that step; it is not optional and it is not something the motor can be shipped pre-set for.
ABB does not publish torque, current, voltage, torque-constant or inertia figures for robot-internal spare motors, and Tamagawa does not list this build in its public catalogue. Rather than borrow numbers from a similar TS46xx frame, those cells are left blank. Ask if you need us to try to obtain them.
New old stock, opened box. Made in Japan, dated 2006. Stored, not run. Sold as a spare part; no functional test has been performed.
