A Timken 3582 tapered roller bearing cone — the inner ring complete with its rollers and cage, for a 1.5748 inch (40 mm) shaft. This is one half of a single-row tapered roller bearing.
Cone only. A tapered roller cone does not include its cup, and a cone will not run without one. The mating cup for a 3582 is a Timken 3525. If you need the pair, order both; we can supply complete sets on request. Fitting a cone against a cup from a different part number is not a substitution — the raceway angle and roller path are matched between the two halves.
3582 is the Timken cone part number in the 3500 series; 3525 is its cup. When Timken quotes the pair as an assembly it is written 3582/3525. A number like 35xx-90xxx would be a complete pre-set assembly instead — this is not one of those.

The load ratings above are for the complete 3582/3525 assembly, as Timken publishes them. They are quoted here so you can size the position, not as a claim about a cone running on its own.
Tapered roller bearings take radial and one-directional thrust together, and the K factor of 1.91 tells you how the two divide: it is the ratio Timken uses to convert thrust into an equivalent radial load. A K of 1.91 is a fairly steep contact angle for this size, so this bearing carries thrust well — useful in the opposed pairs typical of wheel hubs, gearboxes and pinion shafts.
Because a taper takes thrust one way only, these are almost always mounted in opposing pairs, and the pair is adjusted at assembly to set endplay or preload. Fit a new cone against a used cup and the two wear patterns will not agree, so the standard practice is to replace cone and cup together.
Note the bore: 1.5748 in is exactly 40 mm. Do not read it as a nominal 1-9/16 in shaft — that is 1.5625 in, and 0.012 in of interference difference is the gap between a press fit and a bearing that turns on the shaft.
Sold as 1 pc — one cone. No cup, no spacer.
Press the cone on square with a driver bearing on the inner ring face only; never press through the rollers. Fit the cup in the housing to the same rule, driving on the cup face. Adjust the opposed pair to the endplay or preload the equipment maker specifies, rotating the assembly as you set it so the rollers seat against the large rib. Fill with the correct grease or ensure oil reaches the large end of the rollers, which is where a taper feeds.
3582 is an industry-standard cone number and is supplied by Timken, Koyo, NTN, SKF, Bower / BCA and others; the pairing with a 3525 cup is common to all of them. Related, not interchangeable: a T-suffix version has a tapered bore and does not interchange with the basic number, and a Class 3 precision variant is marked 3582-3, *3 or #3. Never mate a 3582 with a cup outside its published pairing.
