A single-row inch-series tapered roller bearing, supplied as a matched cone and cup set on the 5752/5735 numbering — 2.8750 in bore, 5.3438 in outside diameter, 2.0000 in assembly width. This is a substantial size: the static radial capacity is 85,400 lbf, which puts it in axle, pinion, mill and off-highway wheel-end territory rather than light machinery. The tapered geometry carries heavy radial load and heavy thrust in one direction simultaneously, and because the cup is a separate ring the bearing arrives as two pieces to be set at assembly.
5752 – the cone: the inner ring, complete with its roller set and cage.
5735 – the cup: the separate outer ring.
The slash is Timken and AFBMA convention for a complete two-piece bearing. A bare 5752 is a cone alone; a bare 5735 is a cup alone.
A tapered roller bearing has no internal clearance until it is built into the machine, because the cup is loose. Setting is the work: two bearings mounted back to back or face to face on the same shaft are adjusted against each other with shims, a spacer or a nut until the assembly shows the specified end play or preload. On a bearing this size the difference between a correct setting and a careless one is the difference between a long service life and a hot, short one, and it is entirely down to the fitter rather than the part.
The K factor of 1.44 is a relatively steep cup angle for an inch bearing this large, which means it takes a bigger share of thrust for a given radial load than a shallower design. Combined with e 0.41 and Y 1.48, those are the numbers to use in the equivalent-load calculation whenever the applied load has an axial component — and on a pinion or an axle it always does.
One dimension to watch: the cone width of 2.0650 in is greater than the 2.0000 in assembly width, because the cone backface rib stands proud of the cup. A caliper laid across the bore side reads 2.065 in; the catalogue T dimension is 2.000 in. Use T for shaft and housing stack-up calculations and 2.065 in when you are checking physical clearance against an adjacent shoulder.

Cage: stamped steel
Closure: open
Two pieces per set: one 5752 cone with rollers and cage, and one 5735 cup. Both are included. No shims, spacers, lock nuts or seals are supplied.
5752 and 5735 are standard AFBMA inch numbers, so Timken 5752/5735, Bower and BCA 5752/5735, SKF 5752/5735, NTN 4T-5752/5735 and Koyo 5752/5735 all describe the same envelope and interchange directly. Alternative cups mating the same 5752 cone: 5720 and 5722, both on the 5.3438 in outside diameter with different widths — usable substitutes provided you check the width against your housing bore depth and your stack-up.
