A FAG NU240-E-M1A-C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing — 200 mm bore, 360 mm outside diameter, 58 mm wide, in the non-locating NU design with the reinforced E internal geometry, a machined brass cage and C3 internal clearance.
NU — ribless inner ring, non-locating: the shaft passes through free to move axially
240 — NU2 dimension series, bore code 40, 200 mm bore
E — reinforced internal design, larger roller complement and higher dynamic capacity than the base NU240
M1A — machined brass cage
C3 — radial internal clearance greater than normal
The design suffix decides axial function. An NU has no ribs on the inner ring, so it carries radial load and lets the shaft grow or shift axially through it — the correct choice for the free end of a long shaft that changes length with temperature. An NJ locates one direction and an NUP both. C3 clearance suits exactly that duty, leaving room for thermal growth and for the interference of a press fit on a 200 mm journal. The reinforced E geometry raises dynamic capacity within the same envelope, and a machined brass cage carries shock loading and runs hotter than a pressed-steel or polyamide cage, which is why the combination appears on rolling mill and large gearbox shafts.
Bore: 200 mm
Outside diameter: 360 mm
Width: 58 mm
Rows: 1
Rolling element: cylindrical roller
Internal design: E, reinforced
Cage: machined brass (M1A)
Internal clearance: C3, greater than normal
Axial location: non-locating — radial load only
Closure: open
Separable: yes — the ribless inner ring lifts out of the roller-and-outer assembly
EAN: 4012801339483
1 Pc. Complete bearing — outer ring with ribs, roller complement in the brass cage, and the ribless inner ring.
The ISO base number NU240 identifies the same envelope across brands: SKF NU 240 ECMA, NSK NU240EM, NTN NU240EM and Koyo NU240 are the same 200 × 360 × 58 mm non-locating size. A NU240-E-TVP2 is the polyamide-cage variant of this same bearing, with a lower temperature ceiling. An NJ240-E-M1A locates one direction and an NUP240-E-M1A both, so those are related sizes with different axial function rather than equivalents. A NU240-M1A without the E is the base internal design with a lower rating.
