FAG 7208B.P5.UO single row angular contact ball bearing, open. Bore 40 mm, outside diameter 80 mm, width 18 mm. Forty-degree contact angle, ABEC 5 precision, phenolic cage, universally ground for zero preload.
72 is the 7200 dimension series and 08 the bore code for 40 mm. B is the FAG 40° contact angle. P5 is the precision class, equivalent to ABEC 5. UO reads as universally ground with zero preload.
Forty degrees is the high-thrust end of the angular contact range. A steeper contact line carries substantially more axial load and gives greater axial stiffness than a 15° or 25° angle, in exchange for a lower speed ceiling. Load ratings are 36.5 kN dynamic and 24.1 kN static, with a limiting speed of 11000 rpm. A single row takes thrust in one direction only, so the opposing thrust is carried by a second bearing. Operating range −30 °C to 120 °C.
Universal grinding allows two of these bearings to be mounted back-to-back, face-to-face or in tandem without shims or ground spacers. Zero preload leaves the pair with neither preload nor measurable clearance once clamped, which keeps friction and heat generation to a minimum where high axial stiffness is not the governing requirement.
1 Pc. Single universally ground bearing, open on both faces, no snap ring.
The wide land on the outer ring identifies the thrust face, and the bearing is fitted with that face toward the load. Rings are clamped square against ground shoulders so the ground relationship is preserved. Where two are paired, both are mounted in the marked orientation for the chosen arrangement.
SKF 7208 BE/P5 matches on envelope, 40° angle and P5 class. NSK 7208A5 shares the envelope but runs a 25° angle, so it is a related size rather than a substitution — the shallower angle carries less thrust and more speed. A 7208C or 7208AC in this envelope is likewise a different contact angle.
