An Allen-Bradley base driver board, also called a gate drive board, for the 1336 family of AC variable-frequency drives. It is the interface between the drive’s low-voltage control board and the high-power switching devices in the power section: it takes the switching commands, provides the isolated gate drive that turns each transistor on and off, and returns current and device-fault information to the control board. The board is specific to frame F drives at the 460 V class, 300 HP, 50 to 60 Hz. Board number 74101-399-52, revision marking 24-3108.
1336 is the Allen-Bradley 1336 AC drive family. BDB is the board type, base driver board. SP marks it as a service and spare-parts catalogue item rather than a drive assembly. 73D is the specific board variant, and this is the field that carries the rating: it ties the board to one frame size and voltage class. Sibling numbers make the pattern plain — 1336-BDB-SP74D is board 74101-399-53 and 1336-BDB-SP76D is 74101-399-55, adjacent variants for different frames in the same board family. The underlying 74101-399-xx number silkscreened on the board is the engineering identity, and the last two digits move with the variant.
A gate drive board is rating-specific for a physical reason rather than a commercial one. Gate charge, turn-off drive current and desaturation trip thresholds are matched to the particular power modules fitted in that frame, so a board from a smaller frame either fails to switch the devices cleanly or fails to protect them. That is why the frame and voltage class have to match rather than merely the drive family. One board serves the whole drive, so this is a single-item repair rather than a set.
1 Pc. Board only. No ribbon or gate leads, no mounting standoffs, no power modules, no control board, no drive chassis and no fibre-optic interface.
The board mounts on standoffs over the power section with short gate and emitter leads to each device, and the interconnect to the control board is a keyed ribbon. Lead length and routing on a gate drive are electrically significant, so the original dress and any ferrites are reproduced on refitting. The 1336 range is discontinued, which is why board-level spares circulate through the surplus channel rather than through current distribution.
Boards carrying the same 74101-399-52 number are the genuine interchange, whatever catalogue wrapper they arrive under. The 1336-BDB-SP74D and 1336-BDB-SP76D are related boards for other frames and ratings and are not substitutions. Other 74101-series numbers, such as the 74101-169 and 74101-482 groups, belong to different 1336 board families altogether.
