| Additional Attributes | COMPLETE BEARING — nothing further needed, unlike the loose cones and cups we also stock. Supplied pre-set: the spacer is ground for these specific components, so keep the set together and never mix parts between assemblies or the internal end play is lost. Match on the assembly number, not the cone number, when replacing a two-row unit — 29585 also pairs with single cups 29520 and 29522 to give quite different bearings. New old stock. |

A complete Timken TDO double-row tapered roller bearing assembly, sold under the assembly number 29585-90067. TDO stands for Tapered Double Outer: two single-row cone assemblies running in one double cup, with a spacer setting the relationship between them.
Two 29585 cone assemblies (inner races with rollers and cages)
One 29526D double cup (a single outer race with two raceways)
One X1S-29586 spacer ring
Bore 2.500 in, outside diameter 4.4375 in. Unlike the loose cones and cups we also stock, this is a complete bearing — nothing further is needed to make it work.
The original listing described this item under the type “Tapered Roller Bearing Cone”. It is not a cone; it is a full double-row assembly containing two cones, a double cup and a spacer. We have corrected the type. The distinction matters commercially: a buyer expecting a single loose cone at this price would be surprised, and a buyer needing a complete two-row unit would have skipped the listing entirely.
A single-row tapered roller bearing takes thrust in one direction only and has to be opposed by a second bearing elsewhere on the shaft. A TDO assembly does both jobs in one envelope: it carries radial load, takes thrust in both directions, and fixes the shaft’s axial position. That makes it the standard choice for a short, stiff shaft where there is no room for two widely spaced bearings, and for positions that must resist overturning moments — the two rows are spaced far enough apart to give real moment stiffness.
The spacer is the component that makes it work as a set. Its width, ground to suit these particular cones and cup, is what establishes the assembly’s internal end play. Swap or lose the spacer and the setting is gone.
Timken publishes ratings against this specific TDO assembly number, but we were unable to retrieve the C1 and C0 figures for 29585-90067 from a manufacturer source we will stand behind, so those cells are deliberately blank. We have specifically not substituted the widely published ratings for the single-row 29585/29520 or 29585/29522 assemblies — those are one-row bearings with a different cup and a different capacity, and quoting their numbers here would understate this unit and mislead a load calculation. Contact Timken with the assembly number 29585-90067 if you need a certified rating.
One complete assembly. Note that Timken’s own component-count convention is the source of the “(2) 29585” reading in our stock record — that is two cones within the one assembly, not two bearings.
TDO assemblies are supplied pre-set: the spacer is ground for these components, so keep the set together and do not mix parts between assemblies or the internal end play is lost. The double cup is normally the clamped member in the housing, with the cones free on the shaft, or the reverse — follow the equipment manufacturer’s arrangement. Press only on the ring being fitted, never through rollers or cages, and clamp the assembly fully; a partially clamped TDO loses its setting.
The cone number 29585 and cup number 29526D are industry-standard inch tapered designations. Be careful with cup numbers in this family: 29585 also pairs with the single cups 29520 and 29522, and with the 29526D double cup, giving quite different bearings from the same cone. Match on the assembly number, not the cone number, when replacing a two-row unit.
