Decoding the designation

7020 is the ISO 70 light series at 100 mm bore. ACD is SKF’s 25° super-precision design; the companion CD design is 15°. P4A is SKF’s super-precision tolerance class for these bearings. The designation carries no preload code and no matched-set code, so the bearing is a plain single-row unit rather than part of a universally matchable ladder. The carton also carries 3MM9120WI CR, the Fafnir designation for the same envelope at 25° with a phenolic outer-land-riding cage.

What these specs mean in practice

The bearing carries radial load and axial load in one direction, so two or more are stacked to locate a spindle in both directions. A 25° contact angle carries more thrust and less speed than a 15° bearing on the same envelope, and it takes a larger share of a combined load axially, which makes it the choice where thrust dominates and the speed ceiling is not the limit. Basic dynamic load rating is 78.0 kN and basic static load rating 81.5 kN. A machined phenolic cage is dimensionally stable, light, quiet, and holds oil in the cage body; the material takes a higher continuous temperature than polyamide. Limiting speed is 9,000 rpm. Fitting notes

The inner ring seats on a ground shaft with a light interference fit and the outer ring takes a close fit in the housing, each clamped against a face square to the axis. Because the designation carries no preload code, the axial setting is established by the mounting rather than by the bearing itself, and both ring faces are drawn solidly against their shoulders.
