Set preload and axial position in two-row mounts
In a two-row tapered mounting, the spacer ring sets the distance between races and therefore the running clearance, which means it has to match the set it was ground for. We list Timken taper bearing spacer rings, including a 9 in ID ring and a 13-1/2 in OD ring, both carrying their original stamped numbers. Spacers are not generic parts: width tolerance controls the setting, so a substitute at the same nominal size will change preload. Give us the number off the ring, or the assembly number from the bearing set it belongs to, and we will confirm. Complete matched sets are listed as tapered roller assemblies.
